Temperature: Nest 20- 25°C Outworld 18- 28°C


Humidity: Nest 50- 60% Outworld 30- 50%


Hibernation: Yes from the end of October to the end of March at 5- 8°C 


Diet: Water (at all times). Carbohydrates like honey water/ sugar water or other. Protein like fresh-killed insects or other.


Colony form: Monogyne (one queen per colony) Average 5,000 workers per colony.


Founding Queen: Claustral (without feeding)


Nest type: Acrylic, Y tong, Natural setup.
 

Sizes: Queen- 6-  8mm/ Worker- 2- 4mm


Bite/ Sting/ Formic acid: No- have a small stinger that they use to kill prey but I've handheld these with no problems at all.

 

Description: Tetramorium caespitum are known as the pavement ant as they're mainly spotted nesting in pavement cracks. They're a really fast-growing species taking on high amounts of protein. They're an aggressive species and show higher activity on warm summer days.
