Small Ytong Nest Prototype
A handmade, small and slick ant nest perfect for housing a small ant colony. This innovative design allows for hydration through the top, making it easy to maintain proper moisture levels for your ants. The nest also features 2x 12mm expansion ports, which conveniently fit 12mm PVC tubing comfortably, and we provide the tubing for your convenience. we will also provide a nest cape to slot at the end of a piece of PVC tubing in case you only want to use one expansion port.
Suitable For
This nest is suitable for founding/ small Ant colonies. The amount of workers it will fit comfortably depends on the species as Ant size ranges.
Tips
- This nest will be bone dry upon arrival and will drink lots of water. Please be sure to soak the hydration ports consistently for 24 hours prior to use. This will create paths for water to enter the nest via the hydration ports when ants are inside.
- For exotic species, it is recommended to heat the nest before moving the ants inside so you can monitor the temperatures within the nest and adjust it to their needs.
- For exotic species, be sure to provide a heat gradient so the ants can pick and choose where to sit.
- DIY an opaque cover over the front of the nest to block all light for the ants to feel secure.

Destructive Species Safe: Yes. However, some species of ants may slightly chew at the nest but do not worry. This only tends to happen once they need to expand the nesting area. Nest chewing can be spotted months before they can escape.
Micro Species Safe: Yes. However, be mindful of ant space or gaps around the tubing slots.
