Description: Camponotus nicobarensis are known as carpenter ants due to being found nesting in dead bits of wood. They're the most common species within parts of Asia and will pretty much nest anywhere due to their aggressiveness and hardiness in nature. They are extremely popular amongst ant keepers as a first exotic species as they're very fast-growing with beautiful coloration. They are an active species but mainly nocturnal and will eat high amounts of protein. They have a unique trait in which they can tap their gaster in the face of danger to alert nearby workers which can be heard with our own ears and is really interesting to witness.
Due to popular demand, I have added a 2x Queen with Brood option. These species have been documented to be mainly monogyne but a few ant keepers have had great success raising a multiple queen colony, These girls grow very fast and large which is why choosing a 2 Queen founding colony must not be taken lightly. As someone who has kept this species before... One queen is more than enough to raise a HUGE kingdom.
