Description: Camponotus laconicus is a rare, large, and black species of Carpenter ant, with a distribution restricted to Greece. In the wild colonies can be seen nesting directly in the soil or under stones. Camponotus laconicus can also be seen constructing solaria for heating brood and practicing tandem running while foraging for food. All in All, due to being a rare species of ant and restricted to Greece only, not much is known about this species.
